Solved - what to buy for Mother's Day!

Not sure what to buy your mother for Mother's Day this year? Miss Cake has the answer! I can bake and deliver a box of freshly made and prettily decorated cupcakes to your mother so show her what a loving son/daughter you are (especially good for those not able to visit)!

Each box contains 6 cupcakes of the following flavours, each decorated in handmade sugar flowers:

Vanilla and raspberry - vanilla sponge infused with a vanilla syrup with a raspberry jam filling and raspberry frosting.

Carrot and orange - carrot cake (contains nuts) infused with orange syrup and with orange frosting.

Lemon - lemon sponge, lemon syrup and lemon frosting.

Unless you specify otherwise the box will contain 2 of each flavour.

This little box of goodies will cost you £10 which includes free delivery to Newhaven or Seaford on the morning of Mothering Sunday. Alternatively you can collect them from Miss Cake's kitchen in Newhaven. I can include a handwritten gift tag with your message on, or if you are really organised you could post me one to stick on the box.

Alternatively - if you like cake, feel like treating yourself or are just a bit greedy, why not take advantage of this special offer and have yourself a cake delivery!

To order a box of 6 cupcakes for £10 just drop me a line on misssarahcake@yahoo.com or use the enquiry form on the 'Contact me' page on www.misscake.co.uk

The curse of Thomas (and Spongebob and the red Power Ranger)

Doesn't Thomas look like he is laughing at me? Well as soon as he left my kitchen (in a car not his train track) something v odd happened and all of the photos of him on my camera disappeared and all I was left with was this shadowy image on my phone. Something spooky happens every time I make a kiddy character cake, I swear. When I made Spongebob Squarepants someone kept parking their car right outside my lounge window and all I could see was Bob in stick-on car toy form looking at me. Then his pink friend Patrick turned into a balloon in the window of the shop next to the post office in Newhaven. Then I made the red Power Ranger and as I was having a nice stroll past Hamleys (walking off afternoon tea at the Haymarket - see previous blog!) there he was as a giant staring at me. Then yesterday in the middle of making Thomas I had to pop into Seaford and there he was, eyeballing me from a duvet cover in a shop I had never even noticed before. Very, very strange.

Pretty In Pink

Thought i'd have a little break from talking about eating cake and talk about my own cakes, so here is my latest creation! I was very pleased to have little direction and be allowed to come up with my own design for this cake which was inspired by the colours on the cover of the latest Lisa Jewell book I recently read (and loved!). Pink and turquoise are my fave colours and wanted to see how they would look on a cake and I am rather pleased with the result and how the flowers turned out.

I am partial to a pretty cake and am looking forward to a couple more orders I have coming up in the following weeks, although my next challenge is a Thomas the Tank Engine!

The Queen of Afternoon Tea

That is who I would love to be, the Queen of Afternoon Tea. I have got into a rather pleasing routine of a daily cake nibble after my afternoon dog walk. Today's was millionaires shortbread, my favourite. In fact I love it so much I have to keep it frozen and take one piece out at a time so I don't gobble it all in one go. There are also some toffee brownies currently jostling with the frozen peas.

Anyway, I just wanted to share with you that the best afternoon tea I have sampled so far was in the Skyview bar of the Burj Al Arab in Dubai. I think my face explains it. Deeelish! Look at those bundles of yum.
