Laser Cut Posters

This week I decided to turn my hand from plastic to paper and came up with some pleasing results. Song lyrics in some form of print are a fave thing of mine (see also my song lyric cake toppers). This Chemical Brothers song had so many suitable lines for a party I was attending it was an easy choice.

And here is the full on A1 version.....

NYC and back in under 3 minutes by Mr Cake, featuring Miss Cake.

Miss Cake does NYC and after eating her cake in weight manages to not sink the Titanic

Been a bit quiet on the old blogging front lately so thought I'd do a quick update/boast about my amazeballs trip to the fabulous city of NYC and the return on the modern-day Titanic (no icebergs luckily).

Dunkin Donuts. Not quite Krispy.

Cake from a pan. Otherwise known as a pancake.

And I Heart Cupcakes.

Champers. Alternative to cake.

Mr and Miss Cake do cruise-look.
I also Heart Star Jumps.

On the Miss Cake does some work front I have been busy designing some cake inspired cards and new toppers and nearly, just nearly am I ready to finally launch the website, hopefully next week Miss Cake will be up and running as an online shop stuffed full of the designs of Miss Cake

Afternoon Tea With Miss Cake

You may have noticed from past blogs that I am rather partial to an afternoon tea. And a cup (make that multiple cups) of tea. In fact I have a steady stream of tea on tap throughout the day and I struggle if I am far from a kettle. Glasto was a struggle on the tea aspect this year I tell you, as I sacrificied my camp kettle and stove to make way for more Rose.

So, what better theme for a Miss Cake's accessories range than Afternoon Tea! The first colour scheme to come out of this is Pink Sunshine (pink, orange and gold). Remember that song by Fuzzbox (or according to Wikipedia 'We've Got  a Fuzzbox and We're Gonna Use It' - now that is a cool name for a band). Wiki also tells me it is from 1989, which would take me back to the days of Seaford County Primary.

Pink also seems to pop up in my repertoire often. And after Pink Sunshine came Patriotic. As when I think of afternoon tea I think of all things British and the Union Jack and all that.

And on another really very amazingly exciting note work has begun on Miss Cake's very own online shop, so watch this space.... ( you might as well have a cup of tea whilst you wait, as I am)

Hey there, Mister Reindeer

Hey there Mr Reindeer! (Sang to the tune of ELO). He is my new favourite Miss Cake item and my inspiration for all things Christmassy. He will be decorating his way round me and my house for the next few months. Mr Cake suggested a Swarovski red nose would suit him, what d'ya reckon?

Bridezilla!

Bridezilla! Installs fear in us all! She is a monster wedding machine with a table plan for a brain and a veil tail, barking demands at her bridesmaids for more champers. Oh ok, maybe the last bit is how I plan to be when I get wed, champers on tap is what I will expect. 'More Wine, More Wine'. Just you wait for my hen do.

And I am going to rejoice in my Bridezilla-ness, when Mr Cake and I actually have our Big Day. We are partly there with the engagement and a vague exotic Sri-Lankan plan. No pink fluff and fairy tale churches for me though, thanks.

You all know a Bridezilla. So buy her this necklace! And remember - Bridezillas are very specific about their colour scheme, hence the rainbow of colours to choose from.

Miss Cake and friends do a Gastronomic Glasto

Ahhh, Glastonbury (or be-rry if you are an American visiting performer). Conjures up for me feelings of elation, exhaustion, being overly excited at finding cold white wine and getting away with wearing face paints in the day time.

And this year was a gastronomically gourmet Glasto. We literally ate our way through the mudfest, washed down with some cold White and some warm and muddy Rose. And what a feast it was! The Treehouse Cafe in the Park always keeps a warm fuzzy place in my heart. Freshly baked cakes and tea always wins me over, especially when stuck in a tent with no access to kettle. Special shout out goes to the lemon drizzle.

The Eat Bristol guys also got our vote. Trethowan's Dairy opened up the world of the raclette to my taste buds. Melted cheese really does improve anything but their way of grilling cheese was deeeelish. I then shuffled along to Lahloo High Tea for a me-sized cake style bourban biscuit. 'Eat Me' it said. And, like Alice, of course I did.

At Lynda's Loaf we sampled a cheese filled pesto bread which was possibly the best bread I have ever tasted. Whilst munching we even got to witness a fake wedding in a boat to the tune of 'The Owl and the Pussycat'.

I stuck to the 'flexi' side of my part time vegetarianism and had myself a Dead Hippy from the Meatwagon. And a very good way to fall off the (part-time) veggie wagon it was, although I did have to be reassured by my carnivorous buddies that although it seemed a bit raw (yes rare) it was perfectly good to eat. Putting the raw meat bit to the back of my mind it was rather enjoyable, even if we didn't get to sit in the hammock in the Ibiza-esque adjoining bar.

Away from eating for a moment the next best experience was surely our pre-booked shower at Slumbarave. Lovely ladies spraying leave in conditioner in my hair, monster sized beds to relax and read our Guardians and hilariously retro slippers. Spent the rest of the day flicking my locks feeling like I just stepped out of the salon. Scary stuffed toys with teeth and genitals though, what's that all about?

Oh and the music was great of course. Although was not overly impressed with the line up this year and no one particularly ramped up my excitement in the way that Brandon Flowers or Arcade Fire would've done. Friendly Fires 'Hawaiian Air' has been in my head ever since, I would love to be a hula girl, it looks very fun and glam. Best new act I think must be Janelle Monae but I only saw her on the telly when I got home. Beyonce did some impressive shaking of the booty and Bono really did think he was God.

So now I'm back in Miss Cake's studio and missing my nomadic food hunting, wine guzzling, fun having, animal hood wearing and mud sliding experience. But at least I have a kettle. And a bed. And my Rose is cold.

Glasto-Fever

I am just so excited about the impending festival of fun-ness. All I can think about is what to wear, what to bring and most importantly what will the weather do?! Todays rainfest is not making me happy although I am prepared with my new Cath Kidston pac-a-mac.

I will be the one in the Merrimaking wolf hood with many brightly coloured glasto necklaces round my neck.

Now your cake is accessorised, it's time for you!

Oh what fun! A never-ending stream of necklaces have been twiddling through my fingers this weekend. I was influenced by the things I love... friends, sister, love, glasto. And here they are. Modelled by the wonderful sis. Jo, of course!

Miss Cake.... accessories for cakes and cake lovers

So, my cake lovers, I have been busy designing accessories. For myself, to begin with. Then I came to the realisation that cakes need accessories just as much as I do. How is a cake meant to feel special as an undressed, undecorated blank canvas?

And so Miss Cake's toppers are born! So I can continue to decorate cakes without the need to bake them (apart from the necessary ones as part of my staple diet of course). And Miss Cake can prettify cakes all over the cake world by mail order.

Just waiting for Mr Cake to have time is his busy (non-cake loving) schedule to recreate misscake.co.uk as an online shop but in the meantime the toppers are in the shop window of eBay - go take a browse.

Miss Cake is back!

Same name, different game! Miss Cake I still am although the cakes have all been eaten and the oven has been replaced by a big beast of a laser machine capable of cutting and engraving all sorts.

Accessories by Miss Cake.... coming soon to an eBay shop near you!
